Summary:
Hansel and Grethel lived in the forest with their father and their step-mother, they were very poor and had little food for the four of them. The step-mother did not want to die of starvation so she convinced the husband to leave the children in the far in the forest so they did not know how to return home. The children overheard their parents and thought of ways to be able return home. Before they went out to the forest, Hansel packed rocks so that he could drop them so that they would be able to return home. When they returned that night, the step-mother was upset and decided to take the kids farther into the forest. This time Hansel dropped breadcrumbs but they were very tired and did not return home. They walked deeper into the forest without food and any way to return home. By the third day, the children were starving and believed they would die of hunger. Until they saw a house made of bread, cakes, and sugar. Quickly, they ran to eat off the house but were met by the old lady who lived there. The old lady that lived there was an evil witch who had plans to fatten the kids and eat them. The witch locked Hansel in the cage and constantly fed him so the witch could have a feast. When the day came to cook Hansel, the witch had Grethel fill the pot with water and prepare the oven. Grethel tricked the witch into checking the oven and pushed her in burning her alive. Once free, Hansel and Grethel returned to their house, they and their father lived in great happiness.
This story should not be in a classroom because not all people like how grim these stories are.
