Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone
Author: J. K. Rowling
Genre: Science/ Fantasy Fiction
Grades: 4 +

The book begins with a lightning scar on his forehead being dropped off at his aunt and uncles house. The boy grew up with his aunt, uncle, and cousin who treated him very badly and neglected him his whole life. On his eleventh birthday he began receiving letters from a strange school and discovered he was a wizard. Excited to leave his aunt and uncle, he left with the caretaker of Hogwarts to get school supplies to begin the school year. The young boy, Harry, was shocked by the fact that he was well known in the wizarding world when he was unnoticeable in the human world. Harry went to school and made two best friends, Ron and Hermoine. With these two friends, Harry learned first year magic and broke several school rules. The three seemed to find trouble at every corner especially when Professor Snape was involved. They believed that Professor Snape was suspicious and thought he was trying to steal the philosopher's stone. One day, the three discovered that someone was trying to steal the stone and went to go stop it from happening. The friends went through many trials and Harry ending up battling Lord Voldemort who was the very same wizard who gave him his scar 11 years ago.
