Coraline

Coraline
Author: Neil Gaiman
Illustrator: P. Craig Russell
Genre: Fantasy
Grades: 4-6

This story is about a young girl who lives with her parents and loves adventure. However, they are too busy to spend any time with her. Coraline had just moved into a new house, was left alone one day, and decided to explore the house. She goes to the brick door that she was told to stay out of. Through the door she enters a new world that is almost identical to the real world, but feels better than the real world. However things turn when her "new world" mother wants to switch her eyes with button eyes. She then meets the ghosts of the children who let their mothers switch their eyes with buttons, and realizes she has to get out of there. This story would be a fun read to have in the class around Halloween because of its creepiness.
