This book is a about a bird who hatches without his mother because she went to get food thinking her would stay there waiting for her. Confused, the baby bird starts walking in search of his mother asking anyone he comes in touch with. The baby bird ask a kitten, a hen, a dog, and a cow but realizes none of them are his mother. The baby bird continues to ask anything and everything including a car and a boat. While screaming for his mother on the boat, the bird realizes he is a snort and finds his mother. This is my favorite book, so I think this book should be in all classrooms because it's a great product of Dr. Seuss.
